The Broncos, The New Browns Of The NFL.

Let me spin you a yarn. The Denver Broncos season is over. Done. As a Broncos fan it was a depressing year, full of glimmers of hope only to be crushed by the reality that this team isn’t very good in the grand scheme of things. One such example, Phillip Lindsay, terrific rookie sensation, broken wrist done for the year with possible long term damage. Another, the pass rush that is insanely good. 43 sacks this year good for 6th best in the league only to be doomed in by a horrific pass defense.

The Broncos are truly now the basement of the NFL. We are the new Cleveland Browns, a team filled with potential talent searching for a QB. Case Keenum isn’t the answer. 17 touchdowns to 14 interceptions is simply unacceptable. With the news of Justin Herbert staying in college and the fact the Broncos short lived, pointless, winning streak screwing them out of a top ten pick will prevent a QB from being drafted. The Broncos will again look to free agency.

Yet again John Elway will fall for the latest floozy at the dance coming off a promising season, perhaps hell overpay for Tyrod Taylor or Joe Flacco but my money is on former Super Bowl Champion Nick Foles. Someone Elway can con the fanbase into by pointing to past glories and one great Super Bowl run. The poor people of Denver will fall for the snake oil sales pitch again and yet again next December the Broncos faithful will be left praying for a QB once again.

It’s a story that’s all too predictable. It’s getting tiring. I’m getting sick of the same old song and dance over and over again. It’s time to start fresh, bring in new minds, this Elway experiment has lasted long enough. It paid off, sort of, the Broncos got a ring, while at the same time wasting four years of Peyton Manning in his prime because of a lack of defense, some of that blame has to fall on Elway.
New blood is needed. To use a Trumpism it’s time to drain the swamp. Because in the harsh unforgiving winters of Denver we have been exposed to a new NFL atrocity. No longer the Browns mantle to carry, the Broncos are the most QB starved franchise in the league. (Well I guess maybe not the whole league, gotta tip the hat to the Jags.)
