AFC West Projected Starters

Denver Broncos

The Broncos, more than any other team completely redid the skill position room for 2020 in my opinion. The addition of Melvin Gordon gives the Broncos a nasty new-look backfield with tons of depth especially if Royce Freeman can simply flash one to two times a month as the third running back. The WR3 position is up for grabs between rookie KJ Hamler and Desean Hamilton. Hamilton flashed at the end of last year it will be interesting to see how he molds into the new offense.

Oakland Raiders

This exercise always brings up surprises. The Raiders are a surprise. A blind spot to my football coverage and fandom has been enlightened by a bit of game pass work and some Raiders reading. If Derek Carr weren’t theΒ  QB I would probably hype this team as a top 6 AFC offense. I love Tyrell Williams and Henry Ruggs seems like a slam dunk while Darren Waller is an emerging elite in the tight end community. Not to mention top 5 fantasy running back Josh Jacobs.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers, a constant mistress of mine, once again look fascinating. What really puts a damper on my universal love for these chargers is the QB position. I think Herbert is clearly the better QB but Tyrod is going to start week one, now, of course, he won’t make it past week 4.Β  WR3 is wide open for the first time in a while with Travis Benjamin’s departure. KJ Hill seems like a logical choice to me to emerge though.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs, simply put, are still loaded. They add Helaire to the backfield mix and though I have playoff Damien starting at RB2 I would kind of be shocked if the younger Darwin Thompson doesn’t surpass him. Outside of that, this is just about the best offense potentially in the entire NFL. Having Patrick Mahomes and Andy Ried is pretty much going to lock that in for years to come.
