The playoffs are here the NFL playoffs are exciting and unpredictable. Well that’s not the case for me last year if you look back I predicted the Broncos would make the Super Bowl. Now yes I had them losing to Seattle but no one saw them making the Super Bowl. I did, take that Skip Bayless. So its time, here are my NFL playoff predictions.
Wild Card Round
Houston Texans 20 Oakland Raiders 10: It’s a sad end to what really was a dream season for the Raiders which suddenly turned into a nightmare on Christmas eve. The Texans have less quarterbacking questions in this game than the raiders. Brock Oswieler will most likely start and though he has been terrible through the season, at home he has been semi bad. Expect the defense to win this game for the Texans but Oswieler to throw a touchdown and keep his mistakes to a minimum.
Seahawks 34 Lions 24: Russell Wilson will have a big day against a lack luster Lions defense while Matthew Stafford will struggle mightily against the Seahawks secondary. However without Earl Thomas Stafford will find a few holes in the defense to keep this game from being a blowout. If Russell Wilson is truly an Elite QB he will handle this lions team and single handedly win this game for the Hawks.
Dolphins 24 Steelers 17: Ok ok this is a longshot pick hear me out. The Dolphins defense is the answer to the Steelers offense. Ben Rothlisberger has never done well in wild card games; the run defense is fantastic in Miami, if they can shut down Leveon Bell this game is over for the Steelers. The Dolphins offense is not as bad as many have made it out to be. Matt Morre can hold his own and Jay Ajayi is a fantastic running back that can tear apart this Steelers defense. Yes this is a bold pick but I’m just not buying into the Steelers they have been to up and down this year.
Packers 24 Giants 21: This game is the best in wild card week. The giants are so unpredictable, in the playoffs they seem to shine but was that just Tom Coughlin? This team is similar to the 2011 team that upset Green Bay in the first round, heavy on defense, one big play option on offense. I just don’t see them beating a white hot Aaron Rodgers at Lambough again. Aaron Rodgers shines to brightly in the spot light to give this game up. The giants’ offense leans to heavily on Odell Beckham to go anywhere in the playoffs.
Divisional Round
Patriots 42 Dolphins17: If you want a game not to watch in the playoffs it’s definitely this one. Unless Ryan Tanehill gets back this game will not go well for Miami and they will be blown out by the pats.
Falcons 45 Seahawks 42: Matt Ryan proves himself in front of a national audience (added prediction this will be the NBC prime time divisional game) and the Seahawks will try to keep up. The Falcons defense will allow the Hawks to stay in it. Seattles defense will be exposed by Matt Ryan the loss of Earl Thomas will really show up in this game. In the end it will come down to the Kickers and I don’t trust Hauschka.
Chiefs 41 Texans 10: Alex Smith shows his true worth tearing apart the Texans defense and tossing two touchdowns. Tyreek Hill introduces himself to Jadaveon Clowney and destroys the rush defense. The Chiefs defense is the one that shines in this game absolutely embarrassing Tom Savage. The wheels get rolling in Arrow head.
Packers 42 Cowboys 28: It’s the Dez caught it game all over again. The Cowboys come out hot and look like they’re on their way to the super bowl. We have seen this before though, Rodgers gets fired up at halftime and destroys the Cowboys shambles defense. The defense will step up big and hold Ezekiel Elliot which will lead to what may just be the worst loss in Cowboys playoff history.
Championship Weekend
Green Bay 49 Falcons 45: Aaron Rodgers walks into a dome and says, “ok this is nice, it’s not freezing, I’m going to light this thing up”. This game is back and forth but the Falcons defense lets their MVP candidate down in a big spot. The Pack are heading to Houston.
Chiefs 24 Patriots 20: The Chiefs defense has the answer to the Patriots offense without Rob Gronkowski. They terrorize Tom Brady all day and give Belicheck fits on defense with Travis Kelce. Alex Smith doesn’t tear this team apart but does just enough and lets the running game carry the Chiefs into Houston.
Super Bowl
The first super bowl ever played featured the Packers and the Chiefs. In that game the Packers one and there QB famously showed up to the game in the midst of a massive hangover. The dynasty of the Pack go into Houston as the heavy favorite. The first half of the game is close the Chiefs defense shuts down the Packer offense and the Chiefs take a small lead early. Down by two possession’s at halftime Aaron Rodgers begins to warm up in the third and ties the game up with two touchdowns. Alex Smith Kicks it into gear in the fourth as well though. It goes back and forth in the final quarter of play as the offenses break things open. 2 minute mark the score is 41-38 Chiefs. Rodgers leads a stunning drive and the Packers win the title because of a gutsy 2 point try.
Packers 47 Chiefs 38
