1. What career(s) are you interested in pursuing?
I would love to do really anything with sports. I’ve delved into the audio forte the past two years, so the idea of professional podcasting is really interesting to me. I would love to write about the NFL, a dream is to work for NFL Media. I also really like radio, I currently work at 1280 The Zone, a local sports radio station here in Salt Lake City. I’d love to try my hand at play by play announcing. I also love teaching, I worked at a community college as a student advisor and really loved it. PR is another direction I would love to try as well, hopefully for a sports team.
2. What have you done to move you closer to those careers?
I have an associate’s degree in Media Studies and Journalism from Salt Lake Community College. I have a podcast, The Endzone Podcast, about football and branching out to other sports as well. Check that out here! I also blog and write a considerable amount. I have written over 400 articles in 5 years of this blog being in production. I also currently work as a Producer at 1280 The Zone Sports Network.
3. What year are you in school?
I am currently a Junior pursuing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Utah.
4. Why did you choose this major?
Because I love telling stories. I love having arguments. I love doing. It gives me an opportunity to be myself and contribute my unique voice to the world in a meaningful way.
5. What have you learned so far in this major?
Being versatile is key. I believe I bring this. I’m big on reproducing everything I make for social media. I write I podcast, I am working on editing and making some videos. I pride myself on being able to do a lot of different things.
6. What have you done outside of school to further develop your skills/interests?
I watch a ton of sports. I read a ton of sports writing. I listen to a bunch of Sports podcasts. I show up to work each and every day looking to do the little things right.
7. What Hobbies/ Interests do you have?
Sports. That’s why I want this career path so badly. I write articles about sports for fun. I podcast for fun. I love reading and tweeting about sports, it is what I do with my free time. I eat sleep and breathe this stuff and I love it.
