Blame The Refs But Don’t Let That Blind You From The Fact Jared Goff Came Up Big In The Clutch.

You can blame the refs all you want for the Rams getting to the Super Bowl. You have a good case. They totally blew an obvious PI call that kept the Saints from salting away the game in the fourth quarter. However in doing that you dismiss the fact the Rams played one of the best games in the clutch.

Every single throw Jared Goff had to make he made. You can hate on Goff as much as you want but the fact is the guy is an elite NFL QB. Goff played nearly a perfect game throwing only one interception that wasn’t even his fault. 297 yards is not the most impressive number in the world but he got those yards against an incredibly impressive Saints defense. When it mattered most he threw a key touchdown to Tyler Higbee. He also made one of the most beautiful deep throws of the year to Brandin Cooks in the second quarter to set up the touchdown that put the Rams back in the game. Jared Goff came up in the biggest spots all day and played truly wonderfully. You are blind if you don’t credit a majority of this win to Goff who kept the Rams in it.

Meanwhile, the Rams defense was absolutely dominant. Outside of Alvin Kamara the Rams basically shut down every single Saints Weapon. It was truly one of the best defensive game plans I have ever seen. The defense also forced Drew Brees into a massive mistake in OT.

Blame the Refs all you want but Brees had a chance to win the game and he didn’t. He could not remain protected and was hit all day long. You can’t throw up blind ducks in overtime either, sometimes its best to take the sack. If you believe the Saints were robbed by the refs fine, but don’t let that divert you from the fact that the Rams played there best game of the year down the stretch. Two things can be true at the same time. In today’s day and age people forget that.
