Dez Bryant has been released by the Dallas Cowboys. Bryant who is now 29 was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2010 he was selected with the 24th overall pick of the draft. One of the more notable receivers in cowboys history Bryant finished his seven year career with Dallas on Friday.
Rumors had spread of Bryants cutting over the entire off season. Dez saw his numbers drastically decrease in the 2017/18 season and has struggled with drops over the past two years of his career. Bryant was asking for a massive contract extension that Jerry Jones clearly thought he was not worth. With the addition of Allen Hurns this off season the Cowboys have clearly begin setting up the next generation of wide outs to put around Dak Prescott. Prescott is a loser in this move in my mind as Dez was one of his most trusted targets in 2016 during his break out season.
Bryant’s market will most likely be reserved as he is near 30 years old at this point. Likely landing spots would be Cleveland, Miami, Baltimore, and maybe Oakland all struggling teams who would be willing to sign a veteran wide out. Dez finished his Cowboys career with 73 touchdowns and 7,459 yards.
