Consistency, that’s something the gets lost today in the NFL. Look at the Baltimore Ravens, New York Giants, and even arguably the Green Bay Packers all won the Super Bowl in the past five years and two are missing the playoffs at this moment. Now you can blame free agency, the draft, and of course the uncontrollable injury bug But; you can stay consistent as a championship contender just look at the Seattle Seahawks. This team wins consistently without all stars, overcoming injuries, and with overall resilience. They also have a solid cap and coaching staff and they should be examples for champs to come.
Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch, Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor. All names universally recognized in the sport of football that’s only four though how do you win a championship with just those four? The answer is you don’t most of both Seattle’s Super Bowl rosters were made of no names who stepped up at the right time. Now you can attribute that to stellar coaching it’s the same way Bill Belicheck does it up in New England next man up. Pete Caroll is a player’s coach, every guy on that Seattle roster wants to play for him and win for him. This makes the team invaluable because players are willing to take paycheck cuts to come back and compete for their coach.
Most teams always have a major uncontrollable snafu throughout the season namely injuries. The difference with Seattle is they fight through them when Marshawn Lynch went down with a sports hernia injury Thomas Rawls stepped up. Rawls played at a higher level than anyone could have possibly imagined he was backed up in that play by Russel Wilson who could carry the load when Rawls had an off day. When Rawls got injured in week 16 Wilson took off and commanded the offense as they dismantled the ever surging Arizona Cardinals. A team that fights through injuries as valiantly as this team does is one that has the talent to make a playoff run.
Seattle always gets hot at the right time and really that’s what makes any playoff team win. If you go into the playoffs on fire the chances you win are off the charts. The Seahawks got hot leading up to their Super Bowl 48 run only losing 4 times the entire season never back to back. Leading up to Super Bowl 49 the team won six straight going into the playoff run. This year they’ve won five of their last six. And if that’s an indicator at all there ready to run the table this off season.
