With the MLS season about a month in its time for the first of the MLS power rankings. These teams purely meet the eye test I don’t claim to be a soccer expert just someone who intensely studies stats and tables for the United States premier soccer league. So with that said the top ten MLS teams through a month of the season.
- Orlando City SC: Jason Kries has this team on a role without star Kaka who has missed a majority of the season with a calf injury. Meanwhile young Canadian star Cyle Larin has picked up the slack with 6 goals over the last month. The Lions can only improve from here when Kaka returns.
- Fc Dallas: A constant force in the western conference they leap the conference leading Portland Timbers because of there goal scoring ability.
- Portland Timbers: The Timbers have everything you need to succeed in the MLS a solid defense, a great goaltender, and an offensive star in Diego Valeri. The Timbers are also extremely talented in possession with midfielders like Diego Chara and Darlington Nagbe having an excellent start to the campaign.
- Houston Dynamo: After a fairly disappointing 2016 season Erick “Cubo” Torres has a league leading 7 goals. That paired with a high flying attacking partner Alberth Ellis equals a team that can challenge for a top two spot in the conference come June.
- Columbus Crew: 2 years removed from a gut wrenching MLS cup loss the Crew look like the kind of team that can win the Eastern Conference.
- New York Red Bulls: The Red Bulls are off and running yet again in 2016 Bradley Wright Phillips is only going to get better as the season goes.
- Sporting Kansas City
- Toronto FC
- Atlanta FC
- New York City FC
