NFL Coaching Carousel

As the NFL season ends unfortunately there are Casualties usually of the coaching varieties. In this piece we take a look at the available positions rank them and place who we think would be best for the job and the most fun to watch. Let the coaching carousel begin.

The Vacancies

Buffalo Bills

Jacksonville Jaguars

Denver Broncos

La Rams

San Francisco 49ers

Ranking the Vacancies

  1. Denver Broncos: A championship level defense paired with two young moldable quarterbacks this is the ultimate job to have in coaching right now.
  2. La Rams: A very good defense paired with a number one overall pick QB and its in LA. Make no mistake this position and those behind are far below the Job in the Mile high City.
  3. Jacksonville Jaguars: The General Manager here has basically given you a defense that has a very high ceiling and a very level floor. The downside is it’s in Jacksonville, and the fact Blake Bortles has massive mechanical flaws that are going to take some serious fixing.
  4. Buffalo Bills: ok I had a hard time choosing which one of these two teams, The Bills or The 49ers, was worse. I settled on the Bills for number four though. GM Doug Whaley is not a great guy to have running your operation, he once said humans weren’t meant to play football, he is tied to failing QB EJ Manuel who was thoroughly out played by QB Cardele Jones( a free agent rookie) on Sunday. The plus side is that you get Lesean Mcoy, and a defense with untapped potential.
  5. 49ers: Its worse to have a new GM who we know nothing about and a talentless roster than a bad GM. Disagree with me on this one, really do it I think you might have a case I had a hard time deciding which one was worse, but this is the worst possible team to get hired by.

The Replacements

Denver Broncos: Kyle Shanahann. The mastermind behind Atlanta’s offense can tap into the deep threat potential of either Paxton Lynch or Trevor Siemian.  If John Elway can convince Wade Phillips to stay and not retire with Gary Kubiak that would be a great safety net to have. You might also have Tony Romo?

La Rams: Sean Payton. Yes a coach trade will actually happen. I really think that New Orleans is sick of Payton too.  Payton  will get a full offseason with Jared Goff and perhaps change him  into something the Rams can work with.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Tom Coughlin. The nice guy style hasn’t worked for the Jags its time they bring in the old hard noser to fix Bortles and make this defense great.

Buffalo Bills: Anthony Lynn. It seems Doug Whaley has played himself so the bills are going to have to hire in house.

49ers: Mike Mccoy. You can’t lure a first time head coach here it would be an absolute tire fire. Mccoy is a nice place holder that put together several middling seasons in San Diego. If he can do the same in San Diego even crawl them back to 7-9 territory it would be a success.
