It has been a wild week in college basketball. From Saint Johns knocking off two top ten teams in a week to Ohio States buzzer beater against Purdue. There has been a lot of mix up in the top 25 after a week of upsets. One thing remains the same though, Virginia and Villanova are still one and two. Say what you will about the Saint Johns loss but Villanova would have to lose at least two more games for me to move them out of the top two.
1.Virginia (2): They barely escaped Florida State but in a week where all the blue bloods lost Virginia cemented themselves as the best team in the country.
2.Villanova (1): A loss to Saint John’s on a night when the three ball went cold for Nova shows the weakness in every top seed tourney team that relies on the long ball. That doesn’t make me think any less of them.
3.Xavier (4): Xavier has almost given up big leads two games in a row, key word almost. After a Purdue loss they jump to the third spot in the country.
4.Purdue (3): Still the best team in the BIG Ten in my opinion. You could make a case for Ohio State but I believe whole heartedly in this Purdue squad. If they notch a big win against Michigan State on Saturday, they will quickly jolt up to three.
5. Michigan State (5): Michigan State is the third best team in the BIG Ten but the fifth best in the country. If they lose to Purdue this weekend expect them to drop two to four spots
