Needed to put together a blog quickly. So here is just what is on my mind right now regarding NFL teams going into training camp later this week.
Who thought Carson Wentz as the Colts only option was a good idea? Because if the answer to this question is Frank Reich, and I sort of think it is then he is in deep trouble if this thing goes sideways. It could well do that, the defense lacks edge rushers after losing Justin Houston and the secondary will remain a question, Xavier Rhoades is getting up there in age. The Colts season could go entirely sideways if things don’t break right.
Will Aaron Rodgers get traded? I really doubt it. Those who cover the Broncos though and football people I trust do think it is a real possibility though. To me, the date to wait until is August 14, the first pre-season game the Packers will play against the Texans. If Rodgers hasn’t reported to camp by then, I would expect the Packers to seriously begin looking at trade offers.
Speaking of the Texans, what does their QB situation look like? It doesn’t sound like the Deshaun Watson investigation will even begin by the time the season rolls around. So what happens? Likely he gets put on the commissioner’s exempt list and then it seems to be up to Tyrod Taylor. Things look bleak for the Texans but I do believe they will win one game this year, that said who knows which game that will be but I assume it is really hard to go 0-17 especially with the added game.
Why are we doing the pre-season anymore? They added another week to the regular season and because of that I expect the fewest amount of starters to play in pre-season that we have ever seen. It truly will be a stage only set for rookies and young players, anyone whose been in the league and starting for longer than three years sees less than two full quarters of action in the pre-season. That’s my prediction, come on folks let’s just get rid of it.
Felt good to blog might get back to it in the fall. Maybe throw up some picks on Friday/Saturday for primetime games and such. Football lurks ahead, enjoy the last few days of the off season.
