Three things: what we learned from the wild wild card weekend.
- Kansas City is way underrated. The Chiefs dismantled the Texans 30-0 on Saturday behind the efforts of Alex Smith. Smith went 17 of 22 for 190 yards a TD and a pick, not eye-popping numbers but he was efficient. The chiefs now face there toughest test of the Post season the New England Patriots in New England. They will have to face this challenge without top wide out Jeremy Maclin. The Chiefs have the depth to compete though especially if tight end Travis Kelce shows up. Speaking of Tight Ends the Chiefs will have to cover arguably the best in the game Rob Gronkowski. They can cover him though with their excellent line backers and secondary. And safe to say if they can pass this test maybe they have a shot at the title.
- Teams that lost have a lot to look forward to next year…. in the NFC. Both Washington and Minnesota have so many positives to take from this season. For Washington they have a talented star studded receiving group with a very promising QB in Kirk cousins. However Minnesota was only an extra point away from the Divisional round. That said the NFC is going to be even more competitive next year so we will just have to see how it plays out.
- Divisional Action will probably be higher scoring than wild card. It’s certainly going to be a wild divisional weekend so here is the order of games from must watch to can miss. Carolina vs Seattle 2. New England vs Kansas City 3. Denver vs Pittsburgh 4. Arizona vs GreenBay. On second thought typing those I see you can’t miss any of the action next weekend. So cancel Sunday dinner with grandma and Saturday date night some things are just less important than playoff football.
