Well the pro football hall of fame went well. Heart felt speeches, touching moments, blah blah blah. Really what we were looking forward to though was the hall of fame game. Yet it was CANCELED! The cause? Bad paint on the field, ridiculous, so we will have to wait for football until Thursday, Oh the agony! So here are two things to watch, one per team, two per game on Thursday night.
Denver vs Chicago
Denver: The quarterbacks, obviously. Mark Sanchez is of course the favorite to start September 8th against Carolina keep your eye on Trevor Siemian though. If you’re asking, wait who? Don’t worry you’re not alone. Siemian has performed extremely well during training camp and is said to have “great control of the offense” by the Denver post. Of course the question is how much better is he then rookie Paxton Lynch who has gotten mixed reviews all off season.
Chicago: How will this offense and Jay Cutler preform without Adam Gase? Jay Cutler had one of his better seasons last year. However after the season ended Adam Gase (Cutlers Oc) went to coach Miami. So the question is can Cutler still preform at the level we saw him at last year?
Tampa Bay vs Philadelphia
Tampa Bay: Has the offense improved, and how good could they be? I Love Jameis Winston, full disclaimer. Winston was the most underrated quarterback last year. He is in the same tier as Derek Carr Blake Bortles and Dare I say Andrew Luck. Doug Martin also had a terrific season last year finishing just behind AP in yards last year. If this offense gets pumping they can compete for a playoff spot watch out for the bucs.
Philadelphia: Carson Wentz? The quarterback that came out of nowhere and was suddenly the next Cam Newton? The Next Cam Newton is coming out of North Dakota state? I don’t think so, no watch Chase Daniels hailed by Alex Smith and Andy Ried as the Nfls most underrated backup. Chase Montana could beat Sam Bradford out of a job.
Jacksonville vs New York Jets
Jacksonville: Is this offense really that good? I have not bit in to this narrative that the Jaguars have a dominate passing game yet. Blake Bortles is talented but can Julius Thomas prove himself? There is a lot of talent on this team, no doubt about it, the question is, if it works on paper can it work on the field?
Jets: Offense? Ryan Fitzpatrick got to his first football in 7 months a week ago, so how is his game going to look? More importantly how will the offense respond to such a fresh leader? In the end Fitz and the Jets offense will be fine.
New Orleans vs New England
New England: Jimmy Garoppolo? With the deflate gate saga finally over the spotlight is now on patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Garoppolo will have some help though; newly acquired former bears tight end Martellus Bennet will make the pats offense more dangerous than ever. If Garoppolo can hang in there the first four games and through this preseason the pats could have a Brock Oswieler situation on there hands at the end of the year as Jimmy G. will most certainly ask for more money.
New Orleans: The defense. Will no Rob Ryan equal a better defense, or will the saints finally just come to the realization they have no talent on that side of the ball.
Lightning round
Carolina vs Baltimore
Baltimore: Is Joe Flacco still Joe Flacco? People seem to forget he tore his ACL and they all assume hell return to his normal self.
Carolina: Cams Confidence
Atlanta vs Washington
Washington: New recievers
Atlanta: Why? This team is the most boring team in the league. They made no changes in the offseason to make me think other wise.
