Something about March. The lure of college basketball is to much for the country it’s the best sporting event of the year in my mind. It’s a month long super bowl with twists, turns, magic, mayhem, and of course as the name entails madness. Bigger than the super bowl? Your crazy everyone watches the Super Bowl even if you’re the nerd in the office corner who doesn’t know whether you throw a slam dunk or shoot a touchdown. In every workplace, religious sanctuary, school, and home in America there is some mention of this tourney. Example A brackets on ESPN alone 14 million brackets were made that’s the entire population of the eastern seaboard and California. That’s only on ESPN to, CBS, NCAA, CNN, and nearly every office in America, which by the way drags in the Nerd in the office corner. Well its so long how can anyone pay attention that long? The Super Bowl is one day. Well Money most every bracket in a pot has some money on it so you are invested in your picks. Here’s the other thing about brackets you think I knew two craps about South Dakota University before last week? Hell no I can’t keep the starting lineups for the top 20 teams in the back of my head. But because I was drawn into the beautiful mayhem of March I now know the season stats for at least 50 of the country’s best 64 teams. Brackets make you invest into every team in the tourney. Not convinced did you know that overall the amount of viewers between the Super Bowl and Total March Madness are almost toe to toe with the madness having a slight point 3 percentage lead. So if you’re not down with the madness its time to embrace it if for no other reason to see some 19 year old kid hit the game winner in front of a nation captivated on TV and we the viewers get the grand prize that kids ear to ear smile.
