3 Things we learned from the Broncos first preseason game

  1. The defense is still as dominant as last year: Yes its only the bears in preseason but this team proved it was spectacularly deep on the defensive side of the football. Adam Gostis the second round pick for the broncos last year and Ryan Kilgo were to of those depth players at defensive tackle. This is good to see after losing Malik Jackson to the jaguars in the offseason. This is all considering that Aquib Talib (shot) Demarcus Ware(back) and Von Miller(rest) did not play at soldier field and the broncos d already looked to be in midseason form.
  2. This quarterback battle: Let’s start with this one game through the preseason I am giving up on Mark Sanchez. If the Broncos do start Mark Sanchez I am putting all the pressure on him. He lacks the reads to make educated throws to protect the football. People will say he threw a Td and completions I just don’t believe that continues all year. I hope Mark Sanchez proves me wrong. Trevor Siemian however looked really good . With more reps in practice and more help from the coaches Trevor Siemian could easily be a game manager qb which is what the Broncos need right now. Paxton Lynch is a multi year project. I don’t think currently he has the mindset of an NFL qb he has all the skills but is not putting it together well quickly, its going to take time.
  3. Still work to do: It is certain that this Broncos team has a lot more to do to become reigning champs, well not on defense. That helps though, without having to worry about the defense the coaching staff can move more of there attention to progressing these 2 Qbs along.
