Colts 11-6
The Colts are one of the most well-set up teams in the division. The front seven once again looks dangerous, and the team adds Stephon Gilmore to shore up the secondary. The team just genuinely looks better. Not to mention the addition of Matt Ryan to shore up the QB situation. The pressure is on in Indy, the team needs to make a return to the playoffs if Frank Reich hopes to keep his job.
Titans 9-8
The Titan’s offense got worse this offseason, there is no other way to put it. They for some reason did not want to pay A.J. Brown market value and so much so that they traded him. I am not here to criticize that move, I am here to point out that actions have consequences. The Titan’s goal is to get back to the playoffs this year, can they do that with a severely depleted offensive roster at wideout? That remains to be seen but if they can’t they have no one to blame but themselves. Meanwhile, the defensive roster looks like the best in the Vrabel era with the addition of Bud Dupree and Jeffery Simmons breaking out as a star toward the end of last year. The Titans are set up to compete in the AFC South, but limited offensive weapons may make it hard to find their footing in a loaded AFC.
Jaguars 6-11
There will be a leap this year, simply because Urban Meyer is no longer the head of the program. Trevor Lawrence will look better, the front seven will look better, and the receiving core will look better. Everything will just look better in Jacksonville this year under Doug Pederson. I wouldn’t be surprised if they won seven or eight games but I am playing it safe with this prediction.
Texans 4-13
There will be fun moments in Houston, but ultimately it would be irresponsible to pick this team to have over five wins. They have more talent this year but still lack the big dawgs to keep up with the rest of the division. Rookie I am fascinated to see: In a limited secondary, we are about to figure out just how good Derek Stingley Jr. is. We will probably know by week six if the guy is the all- pr he was hyped up to be. One sad thing, I will miss John Metchie and hope his battle with cancer goes well, he would have added a really fun deep presence to this offense. Hopefully, he’ll be back next year, wishing him nothing but the best.
