March Madness preview

The bracket is set and America its time to emerge yourself in basketball and learn everything about North Dakota in less than 48 hours. It’s the sports nerds dream.  The formula for the bracket I made (I have made about 17 but this one I feel most confident with) is as follows. Defense wins championships if your opponent’s points per game are low than you’re going places. You still have to have some offense though, so sorry Virginia and Saint Mary’s you don’t get far.  Im also basing early round picks on recent tourney history and results. Without further ado here we go.

East Region: Of all the brackets this ones the most stacked with title contenders. Villanova, Duke, and Baylor headline. Villanova gets past its first round game with ease, waltzes through Wisconsin and beats UVA. They end up in an elite eight matchup with Baylor who beats Duke in the sweet sixteen. So Villanova Baylor, a great matchup but Nova takes it as the wildcats just have more star power. As far as early round upsets in this bracket is Marquette who beat Nova twice this year, they meet a swift boot in the second round though in form of a blue devil.

West Region: This Region contains the number one team in the nation Gonzaga. Highly touted as the team that finally makes it to the final four, the Wildcats of Arizona stand in there way though. Zona has the hot streak coming in and they will punish the zags who are to lax with turnovers. Princeton gets the ivy league its second consecutive first round win following in Yales footsteps. Maryland gets pushed out by Xavier in the first round as Melo Trimble can only take the Terps so far.

Midwest Region: This is the bracket where March gets mad. I don’t buy Louisville as a contender for a second. I have them getting knocked out by Cinderella story Michigan who leave the dance in the sweet 16. Also Nevada knocks out Iowa State, after the sweet 16 though it gets less mad. Kansas is an Unstoppable force and Oregon can’t handle them without Chris Boucher who was lost to a season ending ACL injury.

South: Ok this is where I have a problem with how the bracket was set. Middle Tenesee and Wichita were both criminally under ranked therefore I have them winning in the first round. It’s tempting to pick a Wichita State over Kentucky but I’m not that gutsy. Kentucky does lose to Lonzo Ball though but the Bruins aren’t done there they head to the final four after beating North Carolina.

Final Four: Villanova vs Arizona: Villanova is the team who is the best it’s been in a while. Kris Jenkins provides the veteran leadership they go into the championship game hot.

Kansas vs UCLA: Kansas as stated above is the best  college basketball team ive seen in a long time. They lost to TCU barely because of a suspension to Josh Jackson. With a full healthy loaded roster Kansas heads to the final game.

Finals: Kansas 88 Villanova 82

I mean this game might be just as good as the last title game. This is the bad blood game Nova knocked Kansas out in the elite eight last year ruining their title hopes. This year it’s different Kansas is your national title.
