MLS TV Guide Week 2

In an attempt to track soccer closer this year, an MLS TV Guide, three games a week for consumption. Joined soon hopefully by Travis Calvin.

1. Real Salt Lake vs New York Redbulls: All of my write ups will have RSL as they are my team. It will be interesting to see how this team stacks up in week 2 of the regular season. They looked terrible on offense for the first half of their game against Orlando last week. They came around in the second half though, getting some really good possession in the final third during the second half of the game. With the return of Everton Luiz to the starting lineup the attacking should go much better this week. I expect RSL to score their first goal of the year. On the other hand you have the New York Red Bulls who played arguably the best game offensively in MLS last week, granted against the league’s worst defense in Cincinnati. Kyle Duncan is a player to watch for Red Bulls this week as he had an excellent game against FC Cincinnati. Cincinnati was able to get attacking pressure on Red Bulls though and score two goals of their own.

2. Columbus Crew vs Seattle Sounders: Seattle had arguably the player of the weekend in week one, Jordan Morris. Morris netted two goals against the Chicago fire to give Seattle 3 points in their season opener. Meanwhile, the Crew up a man against New York City FC grabbed a full three points in week one as well off a goal from new attacker Lucas Zelarayan. This should be a back and forth attacking match featuring two of the top teams from week one. It was an easy choice to put this on the TV guide.

3. LA Galaxy vs Vancouver White Caps: I’m on Chicharito goal watch. I need to see the Mexican legends first goal for the Galaxy live, once I see that, I will stop watching the Galaxy for a bit. If there’s a team he could do it against it would be the White Caps. Alan Polito (Sporting KC) ran wild on this team in week one and I expect Chicharito to do the same.
