1. The Broncos certainly don’t sound like a team pursuing Kirk Cousins: Vance Joeseph said in his press conference the Broncos plans were to run the ball and play great defense. Now that sounds like coach speak to me but it also doesn’t sound like a coach enthralled with the notion of Kirk Cousins. It just sounds more and more likely that the Broncos will draft a QB and or shoot for a Case Keenum, Sam Bradford, or Tyrod Taylor.
2. The Browns will be drafting a QB: Hue Jackson said at his press conference that he is tired of trading down in the first round. I don’t blame him, the Browns sound like a team who will take a QB with either the number one or number four pick. Jackson will also be jumping in a lake this offseason as he promised if the browns didn’t win more than one game this year he would. Guess what, they didn’t.
3. What is Jon Gruden? Gruden talked up Amari Cooper telling reporters “We think Coopers going to be a player. He’ll be the focal point of our offense. The headliner of our offense” Gruden has famously glowed over his players in the media and then ruthlessly cut them behind the scenes. So we cant really trust anything Gruden says but he says that Cooper will be a headliner in Oaklands offense. Via NFL Networks Chris Wesseling.
4. Ryan Shazier will not play in 2018: Sad news for the Steelers but in the end this is the right decision for Shazier. I would be shocked if he ever plays football again, which is a shame because last year in my opinion he was a top ten linebacker. Now the Steelers number one need is linebacker. I would not be shocked if they tried to trade up into the top 15 to grab one, Buffalo would be a prime candidate for that trade. Via NFL Networks Gregg Rosenthal
5. The Arizona Cardinals could be in the running for Tyrod Taylor: Steve Wilks mentioned using a trade as a potential route to find a QB via NFL Networks Gregg Rosenthal.
6. The Packers sound like a team ready to make moves: Brian Gutekunst talked heavily about resigning packers veterans but said there are restraints to that. Reading into that, big changes coming expect the Packers to try to get younger. Gutekunst also said that the Packers priority this offseason is to get a long-term deal with Aaron Rodgers done. 7. The Panthers Release Johnathan Stewart: The long time RB has been released, this opens the door for Christian McCaffery to be the number one guy in Carolina. Which means for fantasy owners that McCaffery should be a first five round target.
8. The Vikings sure sound like a team ready to make a push for Kirk Cousins: GM Rick Spielman was non-committal on any of his three current QB’s. The Vikings need to be considered the front runner to land Kirk Cousins at this point. Case Keenum might stick around as a back up though it sounds like as OC Jon Defalippo seems to like him. 9. The Broncos Could trade the fifth over all pick: John Elway said that the Broncos are open for offers on their first round pick. As a Broncos fan I hate hearing that. If we trade that five pick I want a franchise QB and that isn’t going to happen, so unless it’s a top 10 QB don’t move that pick John. Elway also committed to bringing defensive end Derek Wolfe back and said the Broncos planned to pick up Demaryius Thomas’s fifth year option. Moments after he stepped off the podium it was revealed the Broncos were in trade talks with the Washington redskins about safety Su’a Cravens.
10. Finally: Mo Wilkerson has been dropped from the Jets.
