NHL Mid Season Power Rankings

  1. Columbus Blue Jackets: 15 straight wins is impressive. I have a feeling this team will fall back to earth hard afterwards though. People forget they were one of the worst teams in the league at the end of November.
  2. Pittsburgh Penguins: The whole offense is clicking. Marc Andre Fluery, is back to being an elite goalie and it’s always nice to have Matt Murray in the corner. I wouldn’t be shocked if he was traded though.
  3. New York Rangers: The offense has slowed a bit but their defense keeps them a top three team.
  4. Minnesota Wild: 12 straight wins and a Devan Dubnyk player of the week propel the wild to four. Wait for the mid late February, but, I think this team might finally be the one to beat the Hawks in the playoffs.
  5. Montreal Canadiens: Carey Price Carries this team end of story. Come at me NHL.com writers, this isn’t an offensive power house team without Price this team is not making the playoffs.
  6. Chicago Blackhawks: A great team yes. They were taken down a peg in the winter classic though.
  7. San Jose Sharks: These guys are playing with vengeance.
  8. Philadelphia Flyers: A great few months for the flyers catapult them to the top ten. This team made the playoffs barely last year this year it might be a bit safer spot.
  9. Saint Louis Blues: Vladamir Taresanko and David Perron make a nice offensive pairing. The Blues may not challenge for the division but they have a lot to look forward to in march.
  10. Anaheim Ducks: Only a little ahead of the Oilers, just for consistency sake.
  11. Edmonton Oilers: Young fast and fun, but wildly inconsistent. This team feels like a bubble team to me.
