Kevin Durant went chasing rings. He left out of the blue thought was he would come back in the hours before he signed with the Warriors. Durant broke a cities heart a city who’s heart is now defined by the man who runs the NBA, Russell Westbrook.
Lebron James used to be the NBA feel good story that’s in the rear view now. Westbrook is the kid drafted by a long suffering sports city who’s all-star team mate left him to go to the promise land of Oracle. Westbrook is the face of resilience in the NBA now he is carrying his team, averaging 30 points 10 assists and 10 rebounds a game.
Westbrook needs pieces around him though. Why not trade a draft pick and a young player to the Knicks for Carmelo Anthony if you’re the thunder? If you add one more super star you can win now. Durant returns to OKC on Saturday night and the fans should run him out of town. What could have been if the two MVP candidates were on the same team.
