With football over and a month until the North American sports calendar gets hectic I had an idea. A viewing guide, for average sports fans that gives 4-5 games per night of the best games in the NBA, NHL and NCAA Basketball. I’ve been doing this for a friend of mine recently and thought, oh that’s a solid blog idea. Here’s a mid-week sample, expect the first weekly syllabus to drop on Sunday. We begin.
Tuesday 2/13
NHL: Avs @ Capitals 5 MT, Red Wings @ Oilers 7 MT, Hurricanes @ Stars 7 MT.
Will there be a lot of Avs games on these syllabi? Yes, duh, I am an Avalanche fan and I want to write about the Avalanche. The Avs have been in a bad way recently though, the Capitals present a get right game. A road loss in Washington to a Caps team that hasn’t overwhelmed anyone this year would sound some alarm bells.
The Oilers are interesting to watch right now, coming off a historic win streak how do they respond? The Red Wings have been a fun and solid team this year and they’re coming off a big OT win against the Canucks on Saturday. This is a good test for both these teams.
Watching the Stars play at home is always fun. The Hurricanes are coming off a big week where they beat down on the Avalanche, the Stars give them another opportunity to solidify themselves as cup players out of the east, I’m still skeptical though.
NBA: Thunder @ Magic 5:30 MT, Heat @ Bucks 6 pm, Kings @ Suns 8 pm.
When watching the NBA this year, I am looking for one thing, high scoring star players. These games give you the best chance of watching a guy drop 40 plus in mid-February. That’s what I’m aiming for these days when I watch the NBA.
Super Stars in these games ranked in order on the sports syllabus:
- Giannis
- KD
- SGA
- Damian Lilard
- Jimmy Butler
- De’Aaron Fox
- Paulo Banchero
- Sabonis
College Basketball: Marquette @ Butler 4:30 MT, Oklahoma @ Baylor 7 pm, Ole Miss @ Kentucky 7 pm.
A good set of matchups here. Marquette is an interesting one to watch, Kentucky needs a win at home bad and Ole Miss is a very solid team as of late and of course the ranked matchup in the Big 12. Sports Syllabus Fin.
