What The Broncos Need To Do in Free Agency: It Starts With Shoring Up The Back.

The Broncos are a team that need to rebuild lead by a general manager that thinks they are in a win now window. While many point at the draft to fix the Broncos, they have enough cap to make some interesting moves in free agency to shore up a leaky secondary and a porous offensive line. Here are some moves I could see the Broncos making this offseason.

Joyner
Lamarcus Joyner: Elway isn’t going to go and spend big on Earl Thomas. So he needs to target the second best safety in the free agency class in Joyner. While Joyner was up and down last year he would add depth to a Broncos secondary that desperately needs that.

Darby.jpg
Ronald Darby: Darby has struggled with injuries the last few years, but the Broncos are most likely losing Corner Bradley Roby. Darby could potentially be an upgrade on Roby who struggled with increased responsibilities last year. Plus because of the injuries involved Elway may be able to get the corner at a steal of a price. When Darby has been healthy, he’s played like a shutdown corner back.
Daryl Williams: Williams is coming off a gruesome knee injury but the Broncos desperately need tackle depth. He’s another guy that Elway could get at a discounted price.

NFL: OCT 30 Broncos at Chiefs
Mitch Morse: If the Broncos can’t keep longtime Center Matt Paradis, who has also been the best offensive lineman the Broncos have had over the past 8 years, they will need to replace him. Morse was competent enough in Kansas City and excellent at blocking for the run. The Broncos are a no doubt running team now it would make sense to get one of the best run blockers available in free agency.

Crowder
Jamison Crowder/ Michael Crabtree: The Broncos need to get at least one wideout this offseason. Courtland Sutton showed promise in his first year but if he doesn’t make a significant leap he won’t be a number one target next year. Emmanuel Sanders is coming off a serious injury. Crowder and or Crabtree would give the Broncos a third decent wide out to count on.
A pass rusher: There are a ton in this year’s free agency class. The Broncos will need to either try to keep Shaq Barett and Shane Ray or replace one of them. Plus there’s word the Broncos might cut Derek Wolfe. In that case, this is a rebuild and the Broncos should ignore everything I just said and focus on building through the draft and trying to grab a QB in 2020’s passer rich draft.
