I Went To March Madness. This Is What I Learned.

A shorter blog today but I feel I had to get something, anything, up. It’s been to long. I had the awesome experience of going to March Madness this last weekend. Shout out my mom for the great Christmas present. It was a hell of a time. 1 of 7 sporting spectacles off of my bucket list at the ripe old age of 19.
The games themselves were not great. Outside of Auburn New Mexico State. Let’s start there. The craziest feeling I have ever felt in my entire life came at the end of that game as New Mexico state came close to knocking off the tigers. The entire energy of the stadium completely changed. Suddenly the 50 percent of the crowd that was just there for the madness shifted 100 percent behind the Aggies.
Vivint smart home arena roared and something just clicked in the air and 16,000 people were cheering in harmony. It was an absoloutely awesome experience. I would honestly describe it as spiritual. Something just flowed into my body and it was a high unlike anything I have ever experienced before. I honestly think I had an out of body experience for about 30 seconds.
The rest of the games were blow outs though. This tournament has been the chalkiest chalk tournament of all time. That’s not terrible because it provides some awesome sweet 16 matchups but it didn’t make for an uber exciting first weekend.
Look out for Gonzaga, that was my most major takeaway from this weekend. Seeing them live in person I cannot over state how good they are. They are dominant inside and shoot the three really well. That’s what I have come to believe good college basketball teams do. The Elite teams can score inside with ease and that’s what the zags are capable of.
Auburn is hot right now. Really hot. They have the skill to beat North Carolina but they need to shoot well from three to do so. They are a capable team in the paint but I don’t know how they’ll do against Luke Maye defensively. There success going forward, I feel, is completely based on how they shoot from outside. That’s how they demolished Kansas. Speaking of which, a word on Kansas.
This season was a complete and utter embarrassment for the Jay Hawks. No Big 12 title and completely demolished in the round of 32. Plus the FBI investigation. It has not been a good year for Kansas. Also Kansas is filled with nerds. The origin of the Rock Chalk Jayhawk cheer is that some English professor suggested it because the mountain near campus was made of limestone. That totally ruins the cheer for me. Bunch of Nerds.
In summary, what is this an English report, I had a great time at March Madness and will try to go again sometime.
On a personal note. Thanks for keeping up with this blog if you do. I know it doesn’t get a ton of pageviews and the articles aren’t as regular as they should be but I have a ton of fun doing this. Stay tuned. There should be a final NHL power rankings coming soon and a playoff preview. Thanks for reading.
