With the bulk of free agency wrapped up. It’s time to look at where teams lineup in the power rankings. Off season rankings are always tough and these were particularly challenging towards the middle. So along with numbers I will be dividing teams into tiers as well. Broken up along the way. Enjoy!
1. New England
2. Los Angeles Rams
3. Philadelphia
4. Kansas City
5. New Orleans
These are the contenders. Despite losing some talent this off season all these teams will be fine the time the playoffs roll around. New England will restock their defense through the draft, the Rams return most all of there core and may be able to pick up Suh on a cheap contract. Philly locks down their defense and adds a tremendous offensive weapon in Jordan Howard. The Chiefs concern me due to there defensive exodus though adding Tryann Mathieu will massively help there secondary.
6. Cleveland
7. Indianapolis
8. Chicago
9. Green Bay
10. Los Angeles Chargers
This group contains the new comers. Cleveland has turned themselves in to a Super Bowl ready roster, though they lack any real big time experience, Indy adds smaller pieces for great value. Chicago grabs Mike Davis but has an exodus on defense. One of the players they lose, Adrian Amos, lands with the Green Bay Packers who attempt to stack their defense. The Chargers hang around, they haven’t lost enough to move them out of the top ten.
11. Seattle
12. Pittsburgh
13. Jacksonville
14. Dallas
15. Baltimore
The Seahawks may seems a little high for some but they kept KJ Wright, a massive part of there defense. The Steelers will be fine without Antonio Brown and Leveon Bell. Jacksonville could aim for a nice bounce back now they have a serviceable QB. Dallas nabs Robert Quinn but loses a key defensive player in Randy Gregory to suspension. Baltimore is to low on this list. They lost a lot but add a great running back and the best available defensive player in the class.
16. Buffalo
17. Atlanta
18. Minnesota
19. Detroit
20. Tennesee
21. Houston
22. New York Jets
23. Oakland
24. Tampa Bay
25. Denver
These are the meh teams. The middle of the road, pack, so much of all of these teams success depends on if they add better talent through the draft as well. The winner of this group has to be Buffalo in my opinion. The loser, the Texans who did seemingly nothing to improve themselves and lost a ton in free agency. Still not a bad team though. The rest of these teams all added something, but nothing substantial enough to turn them into a top half team.
26. New York Giants
27. Carolina
28. Arizona
29. San Francisco
30. Cincinnati
31. Washington
32. Miami
These are the teams with question marks at QB for the most part. The Panthers are on here because they lost most of their defensive core. The Niners sit here because they did nothing to improve a bad defensive roster. The Giants don’t seem to have a plan. Washington’s starter may be Case Keenum and Cinci is still getting their coaching staff set. Credit the Dolphins. They are clearly rebuilding and doing it the right way. I can’t wait to see Fitzmagic in Miami.
