Many have long known Caleb porter is one of the best coaches in MlS and some like me thought he might be a little rusty well we were wrong he’s not. After Adam Kwarsey scored the game winning goal and made the game winning save in the longest pk in MLS history they look like they might might might might might make it past Vancouver. But that’s a lot to ask Vancouver’s back is solid and David Ousted is arguably the goal keeper of the year. Not to mention Vancouver’s stacked offense. If I had to make a pick for this on aggregate I’d say the first game they figure each other out and exchange goals 2-2, the second game is a shootout though 3-3 they go to pks and ill regret saying this but I think Portland wins 6-5 aggregate.
My condolences to Toronto
Being a Denver Broncos fan I know what it’s like to have an excellent season and a one and done playoff run. Toronto did the same thing the broncos do year after year in the playoffs when the moment was big they didn’t come to play. The big names Giovinco, Bradley, Findley all did not have a say in this game Montreal out played them from start to finish. But hey look at it this way Toronto you made the playoffs for the first time ever and I doubt you’ll miss the playoffs next year now your young players know how it feels and they’ll want to be back next year. Until then at least you have the Blue Jays to cheer for. Oh sorry I just got word they lost well at least you still have Canada’s sport hockey. At least you have the leafs to cheer for……oh wait.
The case For Montreal
This team is ready, that’s all I thought while I was watching the game this team was crisp on and off the ball this team looked like they’d been here before this team had a swagger. The best part was they didn’t even rely on Drogba and Piatti that much it was Patrice Bernier who looked the part offensively all night scoring the first goal and assisting on the second goal by Piatti. Montreal also has a goal tender in Evan Bush and if he keeps showing up to play why can’t this team beat Columbus? They have nothing to lose no reputation as a playoff contender Heck no one saw them making the playoffs this year. They’re going to Columbus and in good form why not the upset of I’d argue the past five years of MLS playoffs. I am putting all my chips on the table like I did with DC and that paid off. In the first game Montreal explodes at Stade Saputo and scores four goals. They return to crew stadium the crew put up a fight but not enough to survive. 5-3 Aggregate.
And so we ask
Why not why the Heck not? Why can’t Portland and Montreal make a run? Sure Portland’s offense is stingy but it shows up when there defense is pristine and as they say defense wins championships. Montreal plays the part and so why not? I have Drogba fever football real football is entertainment it is every game is different every game some variable changes and in MLS those variables change a lot. So with a little bit of luck skill and magic well you never know what can happen. So I leave you with this question.
Why Not? Why the heck Not?
