Three things we learned from week 9: The Lions could take the NFC North

  1. The AFC and NFC north are both wide open for three teams: With the Steelers loss to the Ravens on Sunday three teams in the NFL north are 4-4. I think the Ravens have the edge though, the defense is top class and can carry a struggling Joe Flacco into the playoffs. The Lions meanwhile look like they could win the NFC north. They are the most complete team in the division with a humming offense and a defense that can keep Green Bay and Minnesota off of them. Meanwhile after a surprise Norv Turner exodus has the Vikings falling to their knees. Meanwhile the Packers have now shown us with a loss to the Colts just how incomplete the Pack is.
  2. The Raiders are the class of the AFC west: It’s time to take the Raiders seriously people. They dominated the Broncos on Sunday night and are mowing through the AFC. Meanwhile Denver needs to get healthy or they could miss the playoffs for the first time in 5 years.
  3. Teams not making the Playoffs: Cleveland, Jacksonville, New York Jets, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, San Fransico, Chicago, Tampa Bay, Los Angeles, Arizona. It’s time to start watching basketball if you cheer for one of these teams.
