Why the NFL Playoffs devolved into one, giant, blowout

The NFL playoffs this season were a complete disgrace. I mean if you’re weird and like blowouts good for you I guess? But for the general football watching public that really had no routing interest because there team didn’t make the playoffs, like me, these playoffs were a heaping pile of garbage. What went wrong?

Well it started Christmas eve in Oakland. The most heartbreaking injury I have ever seen is Dereck Carrs. The world is cold and unfair, on Christmas Eve the Oakland Raiders lost their MVP quarterback, effectively ending there season. With Carrs injury the Patriots really gained the advantage of having no challengers in the AFC. Also on that fatefull Christmas eve Titans Starting quarterback Marcus Mariota also broke his leg. Essentially putting the Brock Oswieler led Houston Texans into the playoffs. A few weeks earlier the Adam Gase benefitted quarterback Ryan Tanehill went down with a knee injury leaving the team with Matt Moore. So that was the first step on the path to the worst playoffs ever, 3 teams were essentially eliminated before the playoffs even started.

Wild Card weekend went as expected. The highest seeded teams advanced. It was the way they advanced. The winning teams had the largest margin of victory in the wild card round since 1981. If three teams were eliminated before the playoffs even started two more were eliminated a half hour before there games started. The Lions were an expected casualty they won most of their games this season in the last seconds of the fourth quarter, not a winning playoff strategy. The Giants went to Miami and dropped passes(because it was cold, not because of Miami, Jesus Skip Bayless hearing you  talk makes me dumber by the minute) and the lost. So there were 5 of 12 eliminated just because the regular season is cruel and the first weekend in January is cold.

Divisional Weekend. It started with the first sign that these playoffs were different. The Seahawks couldn’t hang with the Falcons. There offensive line couldn’t block and the Legion of Boom looked more like the legion of lets lie down and give up 400 yards or so. The Seahawks the playoff tested team of the generation couldn’t make this a close game and were booted out. Then the Patriots brushed Brock Oswieler off their shoulder. What else do you want me to say? We were treated to one good playoff game and it was a classic between Green Bay and Dallas but that was ruined by……..

Championship Weekend. Shootout they said, last possession they said, best game of the season, Rodgers revenge. No one said, “oh ya its going to be a curbstomping”. The Falcons could have put up 50 if they wanted to against basically a toddler playing defense. It was hard to watch, not going to lie to you, I stopped watching in the fourth quarter. Aaron Rodgers decided to be like, “you know what would be super funny is if I fooled everyone into respecting me and I let them down in the biggest possible spot”. Cmon man, I was calling you the Best QB id ever seen and you made me look like a damned fool. Then there were the Pats, I mean I’m not gonna say I called it that’s cheating when you’re talking about New England. The Patriots are a curse on football, I said it, they need to be banned from fielding a team like every four years. As long as there in the AFC no one’s going to challenge them under Brady and Belicheck. The Steelers were the only hope for the AFC and they got crushed. I mean you win world Tom Brady is the best quarterback of all time. The devil himself will play until hes 44 and win 6-7 championships. Now I coud spin it, I could say, the crap playoffs are leading up to a classic Super bowl, but im not going to get your hopes up like that. The Super Bowl ends up the same way as the rest of these god forsaken football games. It’s going to be a blowout.
